Talk about...

...Purpose:

Most people sense that there must be more to the meaning of their lives than working, sleeping, eating and playing. They wonder, "Why am I here?" and "What meaning does my life have?" The Bible says that God has created us to know Him, worship Him, and serve Him. We have found that He meets our needs as we live for Him. Jesus said, "I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." (John 10:10)

...Answers:

This is an age when things seem to be getting more and more confusing. What is truth? Is there anything that we can know for sure? We believe that the God who created us did not leave us to grope for answers in the darkness, but has given us the Bible to answer our questions. Because of this, we have committed ourselves to the study of the Bible in order to know God and His will for our lives. "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness." (II Tim. 3:16)

  • ...Acceptance:

Many people are hesitant to attend a church because of a sense of discomfort. Sometimes, they think that they aren't "good enough" or "religious enough" to feel comfortable in a church. But, the Bible teaches that none of us has been good enough to come to God. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) So, at MPC, we all come together as forgiven sinners who have received God's free gift of forgiveness. (You will fit right in.) "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23) The purpose of church is to celebrate that gift.

    ...Community:

Broken relationships seem to be the norm these days and loneliness is a common problem. We have found that when we were forgiven and accepted as God's children, we became part of a church family where we offer and receive forgiveness from each other and our relationships are more loving, reliable and eternal. "We love because He first loved us." (I John 4:19)

You see, ultimately the Bible tells us that what all people need is neither an object nor an idea, but a Person...

    The Lord Jesus Christ

Basically, our problems of confusion, guilt, loneliness, and emptiness all stem from the fact that we are alienated from the God who created us. Nothing in our lives will be right until we find peace with God no matter how hard we try.

Since God is holy and just, He must punish sin. However, because of His unconditional love, He provides a means of reconciliation with His sinful people by sending His only Son, Jesus Christ into the world to die on the cross for their sins. His death pays the price for sin of those who believe. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

How can you receive this peace with God and eternal life that Jesus offers? "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Rom. 10:9)

In order to be in a right relationship with God:

  • Acknowledge your sins before God and ask for His forgiveness.
  • With your mind, your heart and your will, place your trust in Jesus Christ's work on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins.
  • Decide, by the strength that He will give you, to turn from your sins and live for Christ as your Lord.
